Overview & Objectives

This project analyzes Spotify music streaming data using Power BI. It helps users understand track performance, artist rankings, total streams, yearly stream trends, music mode, song popularity, chart presence, playlist performance, and relationships between Spotify and other music platforms. The dashboard includes three report pages. The first page focuses on track-level information, track stats, average stream per year, music attributes, track count calendar, streams over time, top track names, and stream distribution by mode. The second page focuses on top artists, total streams for top tracks, platform chart metrics, danceability and valence relationships, streams by day of week, chart ranking, and artist streams by mode. The third page compares Spotify performance with Deezer, Apple, and Shazam using monthly trend line analysis.

Project Goal

Build a clear Power BI dashboard that helps users explore music streaming performance, compare artists and tracks, analyze chart rankings, and understand Spotify trends against other music platforms.

The Business Problem

Music streaming data can be difficult to understand when streams, artists, tracks, charts, playlists, music attributes, dates, and platform rankings are analyzed separately. The dashboard needed to combine all of these fields into one clear report so users can compare songs, artists, platforms, and streaming trends easily.
Methodology

My Approach

  • 1I cleaned and prepared the Spotify music streaming dataset.
  • 2I created Power BI measures for total streams, top track streams, yearly streams, artist rankings, chart counts, playlist counts, and music attribute comparisons.
  • 3I designed dashboard pages for track overview, artist and chart analysis, and monthly platform comparison.
  • 4I added visual comparisons by artist, year, track, date, mode, day of week, platform chart, playlist, and streaming trend.

Platform Comparison

Built comparison visuals to analyze Spotify performance against Deezer, Apple, and Shazam charts and playlists over monthly trends.
